Travel to Washington/Trip Start

OK! After a long trip, busted computer and a lot of traveling I'm going to try and get this going again. I'll have to travel back in time to July/August.

Officially our vacation was focused on Olympic/North Cascades and Glacier National Parks. However, a lot took place driving from Colorado to Olympic. The vacation started with me, Nate and my friend Brian. Here are some of the highlights!

This was our first view of Mt Rainier which makes for a good cover photo but not the first thing we encountered.

On our first day of travel we went from Colorado to Dubois, Wyoming. This was our first real stop and it's called Split Rock. A stop for the Pony Express and lots of info on it.

Impulsively, we also stopped at the grave of Sacajawea as we were driving very close. An interesting visit. The cemetery was not cared for in the manner I would have expected but I'm not sure if this has to do with money/resources or just a different way.

The second day we toured quickly through the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone on our way to camping at Pine Creek Campground near Livingston, MT The Tetons were pretty smoky from the Idaho/Montana wild fires. A common theme for much of our trip. We hiked around Jenny Lake and managed to catch some good views of Grand Teton.

We stopped in Yellowstone and watched Old Faithful plus walked around the boardwalks checking out the thermal features. Then we headed to the Grand Prismatic and hiked up to the lookout.

Our 3rd day was a long driving day. From Montana to the Yakima River campground in Washington.

Day 4 of traveling took us through Mt. Rainier National Park and to Aberdeen, WA. We stopped in Paradise and fought the crowds for some views from Glacier Vista and Panorama Point. Mount Rainier was incredible!
