Mt. Massive

Very steep hike up the southwest slopes of Mt. Massive. Hike with my friend Mike Kernstock and started from the Halfmoon Lakes trailhead. A bit of a rough road in for the Ridgeline but we made it easily. The trail started off easy for the first mile and a half and then got very steep. Over the next 1.6 miles we gained over 2900 vertical feet. Probably the steepest maintained trail I've climbed. Once on top of the ridge, the last third of a mile was pretty easy. At the summit we were at Colorado's second highest peak @14,421ft. And the third highest peak in the lower 48!

Here's the trail split sign where it started to get steep.
