Mt. Sherman and Turquoise Lake

Sat Aug 03 2019

Nate and I on top of Mt. Sherman

Nate and I went to Leadville, Colorado for a little camping and hiking.   We camped at the Baby Doe Campground on Turquoise Lake, Friday and Saturday nights.

Saturday we arose early and drove to the Iowa Gulch trailhead just east of Leadville.  From there we hiked up to the top of Mt. Sherman (14.036 ft) and then back down and up Mt. Sheridan (13,749 ft).  This was a 6.5 mile trip that included about 3000 ft of vertical gain and spectacular views of the nearby mountains, including the Collegiate Peaks.

Mt. Sherman was my 9th '14er' and Nate's 3rd.
