Mount Zirkel

Our campsite near Gold Creek.
Mt. Zirkel is the centerpiece of the Mt. Zirkel Wilderness area in northern Colorado. The area is north of Steamboat Springs.
Nate and I drove out and reached the Slovinia trailhead where we would start our hike around 3 in the afternoon. We hiked in about 4.5 miles and setup camp just off the Gold Creek trail.
The next morning we hiked the remaining 5 miles to the summit, back to our campsite and then after breaking down camp, back out to the truck for a total of just over 19 miles.
The summit looked a little intimidating from below but didn't end up being too difficult.
