Glenwood Springs/Hanging Lake

Following our trip to the Flat Tops, we headed toward Hanging Lake and Glenwood Springs.

I knew parking would be a problem at Hanging Lake if we didn't get there early so we arrived to beat the crowds.   The hike up was steep and steady but not too long.  The lake lived up to the hype and the spouting rock that feeds the stream and falls above was an unexpected surprise.

Next we went to Glenwood Springs and rented bikes for a ride up the canyon bike path.  The ride was hot and had a little more elevation than we expected but was fun.  We stopped at the Glenwood Canyon Brewpub for lunch and walked around Glenwood Springs a bit.

We did a little shopping to do some minor upgrades our camping gear.  We picked up some new tent stakes and other little things we were running low on.

We checked into our hotel at the Holiday Inn, walked across the highway to listen to a little of the music festival going on, then had pizza for dinner at the Rocky Mountain Pizza Co.
