Summitted Eagle Montain, the Minnesota state highpoint, with my cousin Dan Mack. We stayed the previous night in Duluth and stopped at Fitger's Brewhouse for dinner.
The drive up on Friday morning was about 2.5 hours to the trailhead. We left about 5:30 AM to get an early start as I had to be back in Minneapolis for an 8PM flight to Colorado.
Dan saw 3 moose on the way in but by the time I got the car stopped and backed up they had disappeared into the woods, so no pictures.
The hike was 3.5 miles each way and about an hour and 20 minutes each way. Not a ton of snow and we used no snowshoes or traction. Beautiful, sunny day with above average temps around 30 degrees while we were on the trail early in the morning.
