Dirt Benchmark/Sarviss Creek Wilderness Area

The summit marker for Dirt Benchmark

I had intended to hike Byers Peak however the road to the trailhead was closed.  I decided to go in a different direction and made my third attempt at the Sarvis Creek Wilderness High Point, Dirt Benchmark.

The first time I drove out this road, it rained pretty hard and I abandoned it.   The second time, the road was open but not plowed and I decided it would have been too far.  This time it seemed to work out.  The peak is only 10,800 ft and there was hardly any snow visible along the road, but there was enough snow to fight along the way, especially the last 500 feet of elevation gain and along the summit plateau.

I tried to sign the summit register but it was ruined and full of ants.

Bear tracks along the way.
