Chimney Mt and Castle Rock

Brian on the summit of Castle Rock

Brian and I headed toward Indian Lake for a couple of short hikes.  The first hike was Chimney Mt near Indian Lake.  This was a little over a mile each way.  A couple of small stream crossings at the beginning made it interesting on the way up.  There were good views from the top and it was very icy on the commit rock formations.  The ice was frozen so hard we were having a hard time with our footing, even with microspikes.

After we were done at Chimney Mt we headed toward Blue Mt Lake and a point called Castle Rock.  This was about a mile and a half each way with a very steep section toward the end.  Beautiful views of the lake at the top!  Carelessly placed my gloves on top and watched as one blew over the edge, which ended up being a semi-fun retrieval.

We stopped in North Creek for lunch on the way home. Fun day, but very windy!
