Byers Peak

Sat Aug 25 2018

Byers Peak from the trail.

Nate and I got up early to beat the traffic on I-70 and arrived at the Byers Peak Trailhead around 7AM.   We saw 2 young bull moose on the gravel road in.

The hike started with the first 2 miles on the gravel road.  There was a bike rack at the end of the road, so we could have ridden bikes up the hill to the bike rack and shortened our hike.

The climb was about 3000 ft of elevation gain and just over 4.5 miles total to the top.  The views and trail were nice.  This was my 22nd Colorado Wilderness High Point.

A view from the summit of Byers Peak.
